āEkapuggalo, bhikkhave, loke uppajjamÄno uppajjati bahujanahitÄya bahujanasukhÄya lokÄnukampÄya atthÄya hitÄya sukhÄya devamanussÄnaį¹. āOne person, mendicants, arises in the world for the welfare and happiness of the people, out of sympathy for the world, for the benefit, welfare, and happiness of gods and humans.
Katamo ekapuggalo? What one person?
TathÄgato arahaį¹ sammÄsambuddho. The Realized One, the perfected one, the fully awakened Buddha.
Ayaį¹ kho, bhikkhave, ekapuggalo loke uppajjamÄno uppajjati bahujanahitÄya bahujanasukhÄya lokÄnukampÄya atthÄya hitÄya sukhÄya devamanussÄnanāti. This is the one person, mendicants, who arises in the world for the welfare and happiness of the people, out of sympathy for the world, for the benefit, welfare, and happiness of gods and humans.ā

āNÄhaį¹, bhikkhave, aƱƱaį¹ ekapuggalampi samanupassÄmi yo evaį¹ tathÄgatena anuttaraį¹ dhammacakkaį¹ pavattitaį¹ sammadeva anuppavatteti yathayidaį¹, bhikkhave, sÄriputto. āMendicants, I do not see a single other person who rightly keeps rolling the supreme Wheel of Dhamma that was rolled forth by the Realized One like SÄriputta.
SÄriputto, bhikkhave, tathÄgatena anuttaraį¹ dhammacakkaį¹ pavattitaį¹ sammadeva anuppavattetÄ«āti. SÄriputta rightly keeps rolling the supreme Wheel of Dhamma that was rolled forth by the Realized One.ā
