18. Pañcamavagga Chapter Five

“Etadaggaṁ, bhikkhave, mama sāvikānaṁ bhikkhunīnaṁ rattaññūnaṁ yadidaṁ mahāpajāpatigotamī. “The foremost of my nun disciples in long standing is Mahāpajāpati Gotamī.”

… Mahāpaññānaṁ yadidaṁ khemā. “… with great wisdom is Khemā.”

… Iddhimantīnaṁ yadidaṁ uppalavaṇṇā. “… with psychic power is Uppalavaṇṇā.”

… Vinayadharānaṁ yadidaṁ paṭācārā. “… who have memorized the monastic law is Paṭācārā.”

… Dhammakathikānaṁ yadidaṁ dhammadinnā. “… who speak on the teaching is Dhammadinnā.”

… Jhāyīnaṁ yadidaṁ nandā. “… who practice absorption is Nandā.”

… Āraddhavīriyānaṁ yadidaṁ soṇā. “… who are energetic is Soṇā.”

… Dibbacakkhukānaṁ yadidaṁ bakulā. “… with clairvoyance is Sakulā.”

… Khippābhiññānaṁ yadidaṁ bhaddā kuṇḍalakesā. “… with swift insight is Bhaddā of the Curly Hair.”

… Pubbenivāsaṁ anussarantīnaṁ yadidaṁ bhaddā kāpilānī. “… who recollect past lives is Bhaddā daughter of Kapila.”

… Mahābhiññāpattānaṁ yadidaṁ bhaddakaccānā. “… who have attained great insight is Bhaddakaccānā.”

… Lūkhacīvaradharānaṁ yadidaṁ kisāgotamī. “… who wear coarse robes is Kisāgotamī.”

… Saddhādhimuttānaṁ yadidaṁ siṅgālakamātā”ti. “… who are committed to faith is Sigālaka’s Mother.”
