LÄbhÄsÄ ca jÄ«vitÄsÄ ca. The hope for wealth and the hope for long life.
ImÄ kho, bhikkhave, dve ÄsÄ duppajahÄāti. These are two hopes that are hard to give up.ā

āDveme, bhikkhave, puggalÄ dullabhÄ lokasmiį¹. āMonks, these two people are hard to find in the world. āThese two individuals are rare in the world.

Yo ca pubbakÄrÄ«, yo ca kataĆ±Ć±Å« katavedÄ«. The one who is first to do a kindness, and the one who is grateful for a kindness done and feels obligated to repay it. One who takes the initiative, and one who is grateful and thankful.
Ime kho, bhikkhave, dve puggalÄ dullabhÄ lokasmināti. These two people are hard to find in the world.ā These are the two individuals who are rare in the world.ā

āDveme, bhikkhave, puggalÄ duttappayÄ. āMonks, these two persons rarely have enough. āThese two individuals are hard to satisfy in the world.

Yo ca laddhaį¹ laddhaį¹ nikkhipati, yo ca laddhaį¹ laddhaį¹ vissajjeti. One who piles [hoards] gain & gain, and one who spends [squanders] gain & gain. One who continually hoards wealth, and one who continually wastes wealth.
Ime kho, bhikkhave, dve puggalÄ duttappayÄāti. These two persons rarely have enough.ā These are the two individuals who are hard to satisfy in the world.ā

Parato ca ghoso ayoniso ca manasikÄro. The voice of another and inappropriate attention. The voice of another and irrational application of mind.
Ime kho, bhikkhave, dve paccayÄ micchÄdiį¹į¹hiyÄ uppÄdÄyÄāti. These are the two conditions for the arising of wrong view.ā These are the two conditions for the arising of wrong view.ā
