āSace vo, bhikkhave, aƱƱatitthiyÄ paribbÄjakÄ evaį¹ puccheyyuį¹: āMendicants, if wanderers who follow another religion were to ask you:
ādevalokÅ«papattiyÄ, Ävuso, samaį¹e gotame brahmacariyaį¹ vussathÄāti? āReverend, do you lead the spiritual life with the ascetic Gotama so that you can be reborn in the realm of the gods?ā
Nanu tumhe, bhikkhave, evaį¹ puį¹į¹hÄ aį¹į¹Ä«yeyyÄtha harÄyeyyÄtha jiguccheyyÄthÄāti? Being questioned like this, wouldnāt you be horrified, repelled, and disgusted?ā

āIti kira tumhe, bhikkhave, dibbena ÄyunÄ aį¹į¹Ä«yatha harÄyatha jigucchatha, dibbena vaį¹į¹ena dibbena sukhena dibbena yasena dibbenÄdhipateyyena aį¹į¹Ä«yatha harÄyatha jigucchatha; āSo it seems that you are horrified, repelled, and disgusted by heavenly lifespan, beauty, happiness, glory, and sovereignty.
