Vajirūpamasutta Like Diamond
āTayome, bhikkhave, puggalÄ santo saį¹vijjamÄnÄ lokasmiį¹. āThese three people are found in the world.
Katame tayo? What three?
Arukūpamacitto puggalo, vijjūpamacitto puggalo, vajirūpamacitto puggalo. A person with a mind like an open sore, a person with a mind like lightning, and a person with a mind like diamond.
Katamo ca, bhikkhave, arukūpamacitto puggalo? And who has a mind like an open sore?
Idha, bhikkhave, ekacco puggalo kodhano hoti upÄyÄsabahulo Itās a person who is irritable and bad-tempered.
appampi vutto samÄno abhisajjati kuppati byÄpajjati patitthÄ«yati kopaƱca dosaƱca appaccayaƱca pÄtukaroti. Even when lightly criticized they lose their temper, becoming annoyed, hostile, and hard-hearted, and they display annoyance, hate, and bitterness.
SeyyathÄpi, bhikkhave, duį¹į¹hÄruko kaį¹į¹hena vÄ kaį¹halÄya vÄ ghaį¹į¹ito bhiyyoso mattÄya Äsavaį¹ deti; Theyāre like a festering sore, which, when you hit it with a stick or a stone, discharges even more.
evamevaį¹ kho, bhikkhave, idhekacco puggalo kodhano hoti upÄyÄsabahulo In the same way, a person is irritable and bad-tempered.

Itās a person who truly understands: āThis is sufferingā ā¦ āThis is the origin of sufferingā ā¦ āThis is the cessation of sufferingā ā¦ āThis is the practice that leads to the cessation of sufferingā.
SeyyathÄpi, bhikkhave, cakkhumÄ puriso rattandhakÄratimisÄyaį¹ vijjantarikÄya rÅ«pÄni passeyya; Theyāre like a person with keen eyes in the dark of the night, who sees by a flash of lightning.

Itās a person who realizes the undefiled freedom of heart and freedom by wisdom in this very life. And they live having realized it with their own insight due to the ending of defilements.
SeyyathÄpi, bhikkhave, vajirassa natthi kiƱci abhejjaį¹ maį¹i vÄ pÄsÄį¹o vÄ; Itās like a diamond, which canāt be cut by anything at all, not even a gem or a stone.
