Paį¹hamaassÄdasutta Gratification (1st)
āLokassÄhaį¹, bhikkhave, assÄdapariyesanaį¹ acariį¹. Yo loke assÄdo tadajjhagamaį¹. āMendicants, I went in search of the worldās gratification, and I found it.
YÄvatako loke assÄdo, paƱƱÄya me so sudiį¹į¹ho. Iāve seen clearly with wisdom the full extent of gratification in the world.
LokassÄhaį¹, bhikkhave, ÄdÄ«navapariyesanaį¹ acariį¹. Yo loke ÄdÄ«navo tadajjhagamaį¹. I went in search of the worldās drawbacks, and I found them.
YÄvatako loke ÄdÄ«navo, paƱƱÄya me so sudiį¹į¹ho. Iāve seen clearly with wisdom the full extent of the drawbacks in the world.
LokassÄhaį¹, bhikkhave, nissaraį¹apariyesanaį¹ acariį¹. Yaį¹ loke nissaraį¹aį¹ tadajjhagamaį¹. I went in search of escape from the world, and I found it.
YÄvatakaį¹ loke nissaraį¹aį¹, paƱƱÄya me taį¹ sudiį¹į¹haį¹. Iāve seen clearly with wisdom the full extent of escape from the world.
YÄvakÄ«vaƱcÄhaį¹, bhikkhave, lokassa assÄdaƱca assÄdato ÄdÄ«navaƱca ÄdÄ«navato nissaraį¹aƱca nissaraį¹ato yathÄbhÅ«taį¹ nÄbbhaƱƱÄsiį¹, neva tÄvÄhaį¹, bhikkhave, sadevake loke samÄrake sabrahmake sassamaį¹abrÄhmaį¹iyÄ pajÄya sadevamanussÄya āanuttaraį¹ sammÄsambodhiį¹ abhisambuddhoāti paccaƱƱÄsiį¹. As long as I didnāt truly understand the worldās gratification, drawback, and escape for what they are, I didnāt announce my supreme perfect awakening in this world with its gods, MÄras, and Divinities, this population with its ascetics and brahmins, its gods and humans.
Yato ca khvÄhaį¹, bhikkhave, lokassa assÄdaƱca assÄdato ÄdÄ«navaƱca ÄdÄ«navato nissaraį¹aƱca nissaraį¹ato yathÄbhÅ«taį¹ abbhaƱƱÄsiį¹, athÄhaį¹, bhikkhave, sadevake loke samÄrake sabrahmake sassamaį¹abrÄhmaį¹iyÄ pajÄya sadevamanussÄya āanuttaraį¹ sammÄsambodhiį¹ abhisambuddhoāti paccaƱƱÄsiį¹. But when I did truly understand the worldās gratification, drawback, and escape for what they are, I announced my supreme perfect awakening in this world with its gods, MÄras, and Divinities, this population with its ascetics and brahmins, its gods and humans.
ĆÄį¹aƱca pana me dassanaį¹ udapÄdi: Knowledge and vision arose in me:
āakuppÄ me vimutti, ayamantimÄ jÄti, natthi dÄni punabbhavoāāti. āMy freedom is unshakable; this is my last rebirth; now thereāll be no more future lives.āā
