āidhÄhaį¹, Ävuso sÄriputta, dibbena cakkhunÄ visuddhena atikkantamÄnusakena sahassaį¹ lokaį¹ olokemi. āHereās the thing, Reverend SÄriputta. With clairvoyance that is purified and surpasses the human, I survey the thousandfold galaxy.

āYaį¹ kho te, Ävuso anuruddha, evaį¹ hoti: āWell, Reverend Anuruddha, when you say:

Yampi te, Ävuso anuruddha, evaį¹ hoti: And when you say:

Yampi te, Ävuso anuruddha, evaį¹ hoti: And when you say:
āatha ca pana me nÄnupÄdÄya Äsavehi cittaį¹ vimuccatÄ«āti, idaį¹ te kukkuccasmiį¹. āBut my mind is not freed from the defilements by not grasping,ā thatās your remorse.
SÄdhu vatÄyasmÄ anuruddho ime tayo dhamme pahÄya, ime tayo dhamme amanasikaritvÄ amatÄya dhÄtuyÄ cittaį¹ upasaį¹haratÅ«āti. It would be good to give up these three things. Ignore them and apply your mind to freedom from death.ā
Atha kho ÄyasmÄ anuruddho aparena samayena ime tayo dhamme pahÄya, ime tayo dhamme amanasikaritvÄ amatÄya dhÄtuyÄ cittaį¹ upasaį¹hari. After some time Anuruddha gave up these three things. Ignoring them, he applied his mind to freedom from death.
Atha kho ÄyasmÄ anuruddho eko vÅ«pakaį¹į¹ho appamatto ÄtÄpÄ« pahitatto viharanto nacirassevaāyassatthÄya kulaputtÄ sammadeva agÄrasmÄ anagÄriyaį¹ pabbajanti, tadanuttaraį¹ābrahmacariyapariyosÄnaį¹ diį¹į¹heva dhamme sayaį¹ abhiĆ±Ć±Ä sacchikatvÄ upasampajja vihÄsi. Then Anuruddha, living alone, withdrawn, diligent, keen, and resolute, soon realized the supreme culmination of the spiritual path in this very life. He lived having achieved with his own insight the goal for which gentlemen rightly go forth from the lay life to homelessness.
āKhÄ«į¹Ä jÄti, vusitaį¹ brahmacariyaį¹, kataį¹ karaį¹Ä«yaį¹, nÄparaį¹ itthattÄyÄāti abbhaƱƱÄsi. He understood: āRebirth is ended; the spiritual journey has been completed; what had to be done has been done; there is nothing further for this place.ā
AƱƱataro ca panÄyasmÄ anuruddho arahataį¹ ahosÄ«ti. And Venerable Anuruddha became one of the perfected.
