Paį¹hamamoranivāpasutta At the Peacocksā€™ Feeding Ground (1st)

Ekaį¹ samayaį¹ bhagavā rājagahe viharati moranivāpe paribbājakārāme. At one time the Buddha was staying near Rājagaha, at the monastery of the wanderers in the peacocksā€™ feeding ground.

Tatra kho bhagavā bhikkhū āmantesi: There the Buddha addressed the mendicants,

ā€œbhikkhavoā€ti. ā€œMendicants!ā€

ā€œBhadanteā€ti te bhikkhÅ« bhagavato paccassosuį¹. ā€œVenerable sir,ā€ they replied.

Bhagavā etadavoca: The Buddha said this:

ā€œTÄ«hi, bhikkhave, dhammehi samannāgato bhikkhu accantaniį¹į¹ho hoti accantayogakkhemÄ« accantabrahmacārÄ« accantapariyosāno seį¹į¹ho devamanussānaį¹. ā€œMendicants, a mendicant with three qualities has reached the ultimate end, the ultimate sanctuary from the yoke, the ultimate spiritual life, the ultimate goal. They are the best among gods and humans.

Katamehi tīhi? What three?

Asekkhena sÄ«lakkhandhena, asekkhena samādhikkhandhena, asekkhena paƱƱākkhandhena. The entire spectrum of an adeptā€™s ethics, immersion, and wisdom.

Imehi kho, bhikkhave, tÄ«hi dhammehi samannāgato bhikkhu accantaniį¹į¹ho hoti accantayogakkhemÄ« accantabrahmacārÄ« accantapariyosāno seį¹į¹ho devamanussānanā€ti. A mendicant with these three qualities has reached the ultimate end, the ultimate sanctuary from the yoke, the ultimate spiritual life, the ultimate goal. They are the best among gods and humans.ā€

Ekādasamaį¹.
