āCattÄrome, bhikkhave, puƱƱÄbhisandÄ kusalÄbhisandÄ sukhassÄhÄrÄ sovaggikÄ sukhavipÄkÄ saggasaį¹vattanikÄ iį¹į¹hÄya kantÄya manÄpÄya hitÄya sukhÄya saį¹vattanti. āMendicants, there are these four kinds of overflowing merit, overflowing goodness. They nurture happiness and are conducive to heaven, ripening in happiness and leading to heaven. They lead to what is likable, desirable, agreeable, to welfare and happiness.

Idha, bhikkhave, ariyasÄvako buddhe aveccappasÄdena samannÄgato hoti: Itās when a noble disciple has experiential confidence in the Buddha:
āitipi so bhagavÄ arahaį¹ sammÄsambuddho vijjÄcaraį¹asampanno sugato lokavidÅ« anuttaro purisadammasÄrathi satthÄ devamanussÄnaį¹ buddho bhagavÄāti. āThat Blessed One is perfected, a fully awakened Buddha, accomplished in knowledge and conduct, holy, knower of the world, supreme guide for those who wish to train, teacher of gods and humans, awakened, blessed.ā

āsvÄkkhÄto bhagavatÄ dhammo sandiį¹į¹hiko akÄliko ehipassiko opaneyyiko paccattaį¹ veditabbo viĆ±Ć±Å«hÄ«āti. āThe teaching is well explained by the Buddhaāapparent in the present life, immediately effective, inviting inspection, relevant, so that sensible people can know it for themselves.ā

gha of the Buddhaās disciples is practicing the way thatās good, sincere, systematic, and proper. It consists of the four pairs, the eight individuals. This is the Saį¹
gha of the Buddhaās disciples that is worthy of offerings dedicated to the gods, worthy of hospitality, worthy of a religious donation, worthy of greeting with joined palms, and is the supreme field of merit for the world.ā

Puna caparaį¹, bhikkhave, ariyasÄvako ariyakantehi sÄ«lehi samannÄgato hoti akhaį¹įøehi acchiddehi asabalehi akammÄsehi bhujissehi viƱƱuppasatthehi aparÄmaį¹į¹hehi samÄdhisaį¹vattanikehi. Furthermore, a noble discipleās ethical conduct is loved by the noble ones, unbroken, impeccable, spotless, and unmarred, liberating, praised by sensible people, not mistaken, and leading to immersion.
Ayaį¹, bhikkhave, catuttho puƱƱÄbhisando kusalÄbhisando sukhassÄhÄro sovaggiko sukhavipÄko saggasaį¹vattaniko iį¹į¹hÄya kantÄya manÄpÄya hitÄya sukhÄya saį¹vattati. This is the fourth kind of overflowing merit ā¦
Ime kho, bhikkhave, cattÄro puƱƱÄbhisandÄ kusalÄbhisandÄ sukhassÄhÄrÄ sovaggikÄ sukhavipÄkÄ saggasaį¹vattanikÄ iį¹į¹hÄya kantÄya manÄpÄya hitÄya sukhÄya saį¹vattantÄ«ti. Yassa saddhÄ tathÄgate, Whoever has faith in the Realized One,
acalÄ suppatiį¹į¹hitÄ; unwavering and well grounded;
SÄ«laƱca yassa kalyÄį¹aį¹, whose ethical conduct is good,
ariyakantaį¹ pasaį¹sitaį¹. praised and loved by the noble ones;
Saį¹
ghe pasÄdo yassatthi, who has confidence in the Saį¹
gha,
ujubhÅ«taƱca dassanaį¹; and correct view:
Adaliddoti taį¹ Ähu, theyāre said to be prosperous,
amoghaį¹ tassa jÄ«vitaį¹. their life is not in vain.
TasmÄ saddhaƱca sÄ«laƱca, So let the wise devote themselves
pasÄdaį¹ dhammadassanaį¹; to faith, ethical behavior,
AnuyuƱjetha medhÄvÄ«, confidence, and insight into the teaching,
saraį¹ buddhÄna sÄsananāti. remembering the instructions of the Buddhas.ā
