YathÄbhatasutta Cast Down
āPaƱcahi, bhikkhave, dhammehi samannÄgato bhikkhu yathÄbhataį¹ nikkhitto evaį¹ niraye. āMendicants, a mendicant with five qualities is cast down to hell.
Katamehi paƱcahi? What five?
Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhu assaddho hoti, ahiriko hoti, anottappÄ« hoti, kusÄ«to hoti, duppaƱƱo hoti. Itās when a mendicant is faithless, shameless, imprudent, lazy, and witless.
Imehi kho, bhikkhave, paƱcahi dhammehi samannÄgato bhikkhu yathÄbhataį¹ nikkhitto evaį¹ niraye. A mendicant with these five qualities is cast down to hell.
PaƱcahi, bhikkhave, dhammehi samannÄgato bhikkhu yathÄbhataį¹ nikkhitto evaį¹ sagge. A mendicant with five qualities is raised up to heaven.
