Sikkhāsutta Disrobing

ā€œYo hi koci, bhikkhave, bhikkhu vā bhikkhunÄ« vā sikkhaį¹ paccakkhāya hÄ«nāyāvattati, tassa diį¹­į¹­heva dhamme paƱca sahadhammikā vādānupātā gārayhā į¹­hānā āgacchanti. ā€œMendicants, any monk or nun who rejects the training and returns to a lesser life deserves rebuttal and criticism on five legitimate grounds in this very life.

Saddhāpi nāma te nāhosi kusalesu dhammesu, hirÄ«pi nāma te nāhosi kusalesu dhammesu, ottappampi nāma te nāhosi kusalesu dhammesu, vÄ«riyampi nāma te nāhosi kusalesu dhammesu, paƱƱāpi nāma te nāhosi kusalesu dhammesu. ā€˜You had no faith, conscience, prudence, energy, or wisdom regarding skillful qualities.ā€™

Yo hi koci, bhikkhave, bhikkhu vā bhikkhunÄ« vā sahāpi dukkhena sahāpi domanassena assumukho rudamāno paripuį¹‡į¹‡aį¹ parisuddhaį¹ brahmacariyaį¹ carati, tassa diį¹­į¹­heva dhamme paƱca sahadhammikā pāsaį¹sā į¹­hānā āgacchanti. Any monk or nun who lives the full and pure spiritual life in pain and sadness, weeping, with tearful face, deserves praise on five legitimate grounds in this very life.
