āYo hi koci, bhikkhave, bhikkhu vÄ bhikkhunÄ« vÄ sikkhaį¹ paccakkhÄya hÄ«nÄyÄvattati, tassa diį¹į¹heva dhamme paƱca sahadhammikÄ vÄdÄnupÄtÄ gÄrayhÄ į¹hÄnÄ Ägacchanti. āMendicants, any monk or nun who rejects the training and returns to a lesser life deserves rebuttal and criticism on five legitimate grounds in this very life.

SaddhÄpi nÄma te nÄhosi kusalesu dhammesu, hirÄ«pi nÄma te nÄhosi kusalesu dhammesu, ottappampi nÄma te nÄhosi kusalesu dhammesu, vÄ«riyampi nÄma te nÄhosi kusalesu dhammesu, paƱƱÄpi nÄma te nÄhosi kusalesu dhammesu. āYou had no faith, conscience, prudence, energy, or wisdom regarding skillful qualities.ā

Any monk or nun who lives the full and pure spiritual life in pain and sadness, weeping, with tearful face, deserves praise on five legitimate grounds in this very life.
