āPaƱcimÄni, bhikkhave, sekhabalÄni. āMendicants, there are these five powers of a trainee.
KatamÄni paƱca? What five?
SaddhÄbalaį¹, hirÄ«balaį¹, ottappabalaį¹, vÄ«riyabalaį¹, paƱƱÄbalaį¹āThe powers of faith, conscience, prudence, energy, and wisdom.
imÄni kho, bhikkhave, paƱca sekhabalÄni. These are the five powers of a trainee.
Imesaį¹ kho, bhikkhave, paƱcannaį¹ sekhabalÄnaį¹ etaį¹ aggaį¹ etaį¹ saį¹
gÄhikaį¹ etaį¹ saį¹
ghÄtaniyaį¹, yadidaį¹ paƱƱÄbalaį¹. Of these five powers of a trainee, the power of wisdom is the chief. It holds and binds everything together.
SeyyathÄpi, bhikkhave, kÅ«į¹ÄgÄrassa etaį¹ aggaį¹ etaį¹ saį¹
gÄhikaį¹ etaį¹ saį¹
ghÄtaniyaį¹, yadidaį¹ kÅ«į¹aį¹. Itās like a bungalow. The roof-peak is the chief point, which holds and binds everything together.
