AkusalarÄsisutta A Heap of the Unskillful
āAkusalarÄsÄ«ti, bhikkhave, vadamÄno paƱca nÄ«varaį¹e sammÄ vadamÄno vadeyya. āMendicants, rightly speaking, youād call the five hindrances a āheap of the unskillfulā.
Kevalo hÄyaį¹, bhikkhave, akusalarÄsi yadidaį¹ paƱca nÄ«varaį¹Ä. For these five hindrances are entirely a heap of the unskillful.
Katame paƱca? What five?
KÄmacchandanÄ«varaį¹aį¹, byÄpÄdanÄ«varaį¹aį¹, thinamiddhanÄ«varaį¹aį¹, uddhaccakukkuccanÄ«varaį¹aį¹, vicikicchÄnÄ«varaį¹aį¹. The hindrances of sensual desire, ill will, dullness and drowsiness, restlessness and remorse, and doubt.
