Akusalarāsisutta A Heap of the Unskillful

ā€œAkusalarāsÄ«ti, bhikkhave, vadamāno paƱca nÄ«varaį¹‡e sammā vadamāno vadeyya. ā€œMendicants, rightly speaking, youā€™d call the five hindrances a ā€˜heap of the unskillfulā€™.

Kevalo hāyaį¹, bhikkhave, akusalarāsi yadidaį¹ paƱca nÄ«varaį¹‡Ä. For these five hindrances are entirely a heap of the unskillful.

Katame paƱca? What five?

KāmacchandanÄ«varaį¹‡aį¹, byāpādanÄ«varaį¹‡aį¹, thinamiddhanÄ«varaį¹‡aį¹, uddhaccakukkuccanÄ«varaį¹‡aį¹, vicikicchānÄ«varaį¹‡aį¹. The hindrances of sensual desire, ill will, dullness and drowsiness, restlessness and remorse, and doubt.

AkusalarāsÄ«ti, bhikkhave, vadamāno ime paƱca nÄ«varaį¹‡e sammā vadamāno vadeyya. Rightly speaking, youā€™d call these five hindrances a ā€˜heap of the unskillfulā€™.
