Sājīvasutta Sharing Life

ā€œPaƱcahi, bhikkhave, dhammehi samannāgato bhikkhu alaį¹sājÄ«vo sabrahmacārÄ«naį¹. ā€œMendicants, a mendicant with five qualities is fit to share their life with their spiritual companions.

Katamehi paƱcahi? What five?

Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhu attanā ca sÄ«lasampanno hoti, sÄ«lasampadāya kathāya ca kataį¹ paƱhaį¹ byākattā hoti; A mendicant is personally accomplished in ethics, and answers questions posed when discussing accomplishment in ethics.

attanā ca samādhisampanno hoti, samādhisampadāya kathāya ca kataį¹ paƱhaį¹ byākattā hoti; Theyā€™re personally accomplished in immersion, and they answer questions posed when discussing accomplishment in immersion.

attanā ca paƱƱāsampanno hoti, paƱƱāsampadāya kathāya ca kataį¹ paƱhaį¹ byākattā hoti; Theyā€™re personally accomplished in wisdom, and they answer questions posed when discussing accomplishment in wisdom.

attanā ca vimuttisampanno hoti, vimuttisampadāya kathāya ca kataį¹ paƱhaį¹ byākattā hoti; Theyā€™re personally accomplished in freedom, and they answer questions posed when discussing accomplishment in freedom.

attanā ca vimuttiƱāį¹‡adassanasampanno hoti, vimuttiƱāį¹‡adassanasampadāya kathāya ca kataį¹ paƱhaį¹ byākattā hoti. Theyā€™re personally accomplished in the knowledge and vision of freedom, and they answer questions posed when discussing accomplishment in the knowledge and vision of freedom.

Imehi kho, bhikkhave, paƱcahi dhammehi samannāgato bhikkhu alaį¹sājÄ«vo sabrahmacārÄ«nanā€ti. A mendicant with these five qualities is fit to share their life with their spiritual companions.ā€
