Kulūpakasutta Visiting Families
āPaƱcahi, bhikkhave, dhammehi samannÄgato kulÅ«pako bhikkhu kulesu appiyo ca hoti amanÄpo ca agaru ca abhÄvanÄ«yo ca. āMendicants, a mendicant with five qualities who visits families is unlikable and disagreeable, not respected or admired.
Katamehi paƱcahi? What five?
AsanthavavissÄsÄ« ca hoti, anissaravikappÄ« ca, vissaį¹į¹hupasevÄ« ca, upakaį¹į¹akajappÄ« ca, atiyÄcanako ca. They act as though theyāre close to people they hardly know. They give away things they donāt own. They over-associate with close friends. They whisper in the ear. And they ask for too much.
Imehi kho, bhikkhave, paƱcahi dhammehi samannÄgato kulÅ«pako bhikkhu kulesu appiyo ca hoti amanÄpo ca agaru ca abhÄvanÄ«yo ca. A mendicant with these five qualities who visits families is unlikable and disagreeable, not respected or admired.
PaƱcahi, bhikkhave, dhammehi samannÄgato kulÅ«pako bhikkhu kulesu piyo ca hoti manÄpo ca garu ca bhÄvanÄ«yo ca. A mendicant with five qualities who visits families is dear and beloved, respected and admired.

Na asanthavavissÄsÄ« ca hoti, na anissaravikappÄ« ca, na vissaį¹į¹hupasevÄ« ca, na upakaį¹į¹akajappÄ« ca, na atiyÄcanako ca. They donāt act as though theyāre close to people they hardly know. They donāt give away things they donāt own. They donāt over-associate with close friends. They donāt whisper in the ear. And they donāt ask for too much.
