Paį¹­hamaanāyussāsutta Longevity (1st)

ā€œPaƱcime, bhikkhave, dhammā anāyussā. ā€œMendicants, these five things impede longevity.

Katame paƱca? What five?

AsappāyakārÄ« hoti, sappāye mattaį¹ na jānāti, apariį¹‡atabhojÄ« ca hoti, akālacārÄ« ca hoti, abrahmacārÄ« ca. Doing what is unsuitable, not knowing moderation in what is suitable, eating food unfit for consumption, activity at unsuitable times, and unchastity.

Ime kho, bhikkhave, paƱca dhammā anāyussā. These are the five things that impede longevity.

PaƱcime, bhikkhave, dhammā āyussā. These five things promote longevity.

SappāyakārÄ« hoti, sappāye mattaį¹ jānāti, pariį¹‡atabhojÄ« ca hoti, kālacārÄ« ca hoti, brahmacārÄ« ca. Doing what is suitable, knowing moderation in what is suitable, eating food fit for consumption, activity at suitable times, and celibacy.
