Muį¹­į¹­hassatisutta Unmindful

ā€œPaƱcime, bhikkhave, ādÄ«navā muį¹­į¹­hassatissa asampajānassa niddaį¹ okkamayato. ā€œMendicants, there are these five drawbacks of falling asleep unmindful and unaware.

Katame paƱca? What five?

Dukkhaį¹ supati, dukkhaį¹ paį¹­ibujjhati, pāpakaį¹ supinaį¹ passati, devatā na rakkhanti, asuci muccati. You sleep badly and wake miserably. You have bad dreams. The deities donā€™t protect you. And you emit semen.

Ime kho, bhikkhave, paƱca ādÄ«navā muį¹­į¹­hassatissa asampajānassa niddaį¹ okkamayato. These are the five drawbacks of falling asleep unmindful and unaware.

PaƱcime, bhikkhave, ānisaį¹sā upaį¹­į¹­hitassatissa sampajānassa niddaį¹ okkamayato. There are these five benefits of falling asleep mindful and aware.

Katame paƱca? What five?

Sukhaį¹ supati, sukhaį¹ paį¹­ibujjhati, na pāpakaį¹ supinaį¹ passati, devatā rakkhanti, asuci na muccati. You sleep at ease and wake happily. You donā€™t have bad dreams. The deities protect you. And you donā€™t emit semen.

Ime kho, bhikkhave, paƱca ānisaį¹sā upaį¹­į¹­hitassatissa sampajānassa niddaį¹ okkamayatoā€ti. These are the five benefits of falling asleep mindful and aware.ā€
