Bahubhāį¹‡isutta Someone Who Talks a Lot

ā€œPaƱcime, bhikkhave, ādÄ«navā bahubhāį¹‡ismiį¹ puggale. ā€œMendicants, there are these five drawbacks for a person who talks a lot.

Katame paƱca? What five?

Musā bhaį¹‡ati, pisuį¹‡aį¹ bhaį¹‡ati, pharusaį¹ bhaį¹‡ati, samphappalāpaį¹ bhaį¹‡ati, kāyassa bhedā paraį¹ maraį¹‡Ä apāyaį¹ duggatiį¹ vinipātaį¹ nirayaį¹ upapajjati. They use speech thatā€™s false, divisive, harsh, and nonsensical. When their body breaks up, after death, theyā€™re reborn in a place of loss, a bad place, the underworld, hell.

Ime kho, bhikkhave, paƱca ādÄ«navā bahubhāį¹‡ismiį¹ puggale. These are the five drawbacks for a person who talks a lot.

PaƱcime, bhikkhave, ānisaį¹sā mantabhāį¹‡ismiį¹ puggale. There are these five benefits for a person who talks thoughtfully.
