DutiyaapÄsÄdikasutta Unimpressive Conduct (2nd)
āPaƱcime, bhikkhave, ÄdÄ«navÄ apÄsÄdike. āMendicants, there are these five drawbacks of unimpressive conduct.
Katame paƱca? What five?
AppasannÄ nappasÄ«danti, pasannÄnaƱca ekaccÄnaį¹ aƱƱathattaį¹ hoti, satthusÄsanaį¹ akataį¹ hoti, pacchimÄ janatÄ diį¹į¹hÄnugatiį¹ Äpajjati, cittamassa nappasÄ«dati. You donāt inspire confidence in those without it. You cause some with confidence to change their minds. You donāt follow the Teacherās instructions. Those who come after you follow your example. And your mind doesnāt become clear.
Ime kho, bhikkhave, paƱca ÄdÄ«navÄ apÄsÄdike. These are the five drawbacks of unimpressive conduct.
PaƱcime, bhikkhave, Änisaį¹sÄ pÄsÄdike. There are these five benefits of impressive conduct.

AppasannÄ pasÄ«danti, pasannÄnaƱca bhiyyobhÄvo hoti, satthusÄsanaį¹ kataį¹ hoti, pacchimÄ janatÄ diį¹į¹hÄnugatiį¹ Äpajjati, cittamassa pasÄ«dati. You inspire confidence in those without it. You increase confidence in those who have it. You follow the Teacherās instructions. Those who come after you follow your example. And your mind becomes clear.
Ime kho, bhikkhave, paƱca Änisaį¹sÄ pÄsÄdikeāti. These are the five benefits of impressive conduct.ā
