PaƱcamacchariyasutta Five Kinds of Stinginess

ā€œPaƱcimāni, bhikkhave, macchariyāni. ā€œMendicants, there are these five kinds of stinginess.

Katamāni paƱca? What five?

Āvāsamacchariyaį¹, kulamacchariyaį¹, lābhamacchariyaį¹, vaį¹‡į¹‡amacchariyaį¹, dhammamacchariyaį¹ā€”Stinginess with dwellings, families, material things, praise, and the teachings.

imāni kho, bhikkhave, paƱca macchariyāni. These are the five kinds of stinginess.

Imesaį¹ kho, bhikkhave, paƱcannaį¹ macchariyānaį¹ etaį¹ paį¹­ikuį¹­į¹­haį¹, yadidaį¹ dhammamacchariyanā€ti. The most contemptible of these five kinds of stinginess is stinginess with the teachings.ā€
