ākati nu kho, sÄriputta, khÄ«į¹Äsavassa bhikkhuno balÄni, yehi balehi samannÄgato khÄ«į¹Äsavo bhikkhu ÄsavÄnaį¹ khayaį¹ paį¹ijÄnÄti: āSÄriputta, how many powers does a mendicant who has ended the defilements have that qualify them to claim:
ākhÄ«į¹Ä me ÄsavÄāāti? āMy defilements have endedā?ā
āAį¹į¹ha, bhante, khÄ«į¹Äsavassa bhikkhuno balÄni, yehi balehi samannÄgato khÄ«į¹Äsavo bhikkhu ÄsavÄnaį¹ khayaį¹ paį¹ijÄnÄti: āSir, a mendicant who has ended the defilements has eight powers that qualify them to claim:
ākhÄ«į¹Ä me ÄsavÄāti. āMy defilements have ended.ā

Idha, bhante, khÄ«į¹Äsavassa bhikkhuno aniccato sabbe saį¹
khÄrÄ yathÄbhÅ«taį¹ sammappaƱƱÄya sudiį¹į¹hÄ honti. Firstly, a mendicant with defilements ended has clearly seen with right wisdom all conditions as truly impermanent.
Yampi, bhante, khÄ«į¹Äsavassa bhikkhuno aniccato sabbe saį¹
khÄrÄ yathÄbhÅ«taį¹ sammappaƱƱÄya sudiį¹į¹hÄ honti, idampi, bhante, khÄ«į¹Äsavassa bhikkhuno balaį¹ hoti, yaį¹ balaį¹ Ägamma khÄ«į¹Äsavo bhikkhu ÄsavÄnaį¹ khayaį¹ paį¹ijÄnÄti: This is a power that a mendicant who has ended the defilements relies on to claim:
ākhÄ«į¹Ä me ÄsavÄāti. āMy defilements have ended.ā

gÄrakÄsÅ«pamÄ kÄmÄ yathÄbhÅ«taį¹ sammappaƱƱÄya sudiį¹į¹hÄ honti. Furthermore, a mendicant with defilements ended has clearly seen with right wisdom that sensual pleasures are truly like a pit of glowing coals.

Furthermore, the mind of a mendicant with defilements ended slants, slopes, and inclines to seclusion. Theyāre withdrawn, loving renunciation, and have totally eliminated defiling influences.
