Paį¹hamadÄnasutta Giving (1st)
āAį¹į¹himÄni, bhikkhave, dÄnÄni. āMendicants, there are these eight gifts.
KatamÄni aį¹į¹ha? What eight?
Äsajja dÄnaį¹ deti, A person might give a gift after insulting the recipient.
bhayÄ dÄnaį¹ deti, Or they give out of fear.
āadÄsi meāti dÄnaį¹ deti, Or they give thinking, āThey gave to me.ā
ādassati meāti dÄnaį¹ deti, Or they give thinking, āTheyāll give to me.ā
āsÄhu dÄnanāti dÄnaį¹ deti, Or they give thinking, āItās good to give.ā
āahaį¹ pacÄmi, ime na pacanti; nÄrahÄmi pacanto apacantÄnaį¹ dÄnaį¹ adÄtunāti dÄnaį¹ deti, Or they give thinking, āI cook, they donāt. It wouldnāt be right for me to not give to them.ā
