DutiyavisÄkhÄsutta With VisÄkhÄ on the Agreeable Gods
Ekaį¹ samayaį¹ bhagavÄ sÄvatthiyaį¹ viharati pubbÄrÄme migÄramÄtupÄsÄde. At one time the Buddha was staying near SÄvatthÄ« in the stilt longhouse of MigÄraās mother in the Eastern Monastery.
Atha kho visÄkhÄ migÄramÄtÄ ā¦peā¦ Then VisÄkhÄ, MigÄraās mother, went up to the Buddha, bowed, and sat down to one side.
ekamantaį¹ nisinnaį¹ kho visÄkhaį¹ migÄramÄtaraį¹ bhagavÄ etadavoca: The Buddha said to her:
āAį¹į¹hahi kho, visÄkhe, dhammehi samannÄgato mÄtugÄmo kÄyassa bhedÄ paraį¹ maraį¹Ä manÄpakÄyikÄnaį¹ devÄnaį¹ sahabyataį¹ upapajjati. āVisÄkhÄ, when they have eight qualities femalesāwhen their body breaks up, after deathāare reborn in company with the Gods of the Agreeable Host.

Yo naį¹ bharati sabbadÄ, Sheād never look down on her husband,
niccaį¹ ÄtÄpi ussuko; whoās always eager to work hard,
Taį¹ sabbakÄmadaį¹ posaį¹, always looking after her,
bhattÄraį¹ nÄtimaƱƱati. and bringing whatever she wants.
Na cÄpi sotthi bhattÄraį¹, And a good woman never scolds her husband
issÄvÄdena rosaye; with jealous words.
Bhattu ca garuno sabbe, Being astute, she reveres
paį¹ipÅ«jeti paį¹įøitÄ. those respected by her husband.
Uį¹į¹hÄhikÄ analasÄ, She gets up early, works tirelessly,
saį¹
gahitaparijjanÄ; and manages the domestic help.
Bhattu manÄpaį¹ carati, Sheās agreeable to her husband,
sambhataį¹ anurakkhati. and preserves his wealth.
YÄ evaį¹ vattati nÄrÄ«, A lady who fulfills these duties
bhattu chandavasÄnugÄ; according to her husbandās desire,
ManÄpÄ nÄma te devÄ, is reborn among the gods
yattha sÄ upapajjatÄ«āti. called āAgreeableā.ā
