Macchariyasutta Stinginess

ā€œPaƱcimāni, bhikkhave, macchariyāni. ā€œMendicants, there are these five kinds of stinginess.

Katamāni paƱca? What five?

Āvāsamacchariyaį¹, kulamacchariyaį¹, lābhamacchariyaį¹, vaį¹‡į¹‡amacchariyaį¹, dhammamacchariyaį¹ā€”Stinginess with dwellings, families, material things, praise, and the teaching.

imāni kho, bhikkhave, paƱca macchariyāni. These are the five kinds of stinginess.

Imesaį¹ kho, bhikkhave, paƱcannaį¹ macchariyānaį¹ pahānāya ā€¦peā€¦ ime cattāro satipaį¹­į¹­hānā bhāvetabbāā€ti. To give up these five kinds of stinginess you should develop the four kinds of mindfulness meditation. ā€¦ā€
