Uddhambhāgiyasutta Higher Fetters

ā€œPaƱcimāni, bhikkhave, uddhambhāgiyāni saį¹yojanāni. ā€œMendicants, there are five higher fetters.

Katamāni paƱca? What five?

RÅ«parāgo, arÅ«parāgo, māno, uddhaccaį¹, avijjāā€”Desire for rebirth in the realm of luminous form, desire for rebirth in the formless realm, conceit, restlessness, and ignorance.

imāni kho, bhikkhave, paƱcuddhambhāgiyāni saį¹yojanāni. These are the five higher fetters.

Imesaį¹ kho, bhikkhave, paƱcannaį¹ uddhambhāgiyānaį¹ saį¹yojanānaį¹ pahānāya ā€¦peā€¦ ime cattāro satipaį¹­į¹­hānā bhāvetabbāā€ti. To give up these five higher fetters you should develop the four kinds of mindfulness meditation. ā€¦ā€
