Cetasovinibandhasutta Shackles of the Heart
āPaƱcime, bhikkhave, cetasovinibandhÄ. āMendicants, there are these five shackles of the heart.
Katame paƱca? What five?
Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhu kÄmesu avÄ«tarÄgo hoti ā¦peā¦ Firstly, a mendicant isnāt free of greed for sensual pleasures. ā¦
ime kho, bhikkhave, paƱca cetasovinibandhÄ. These are the five shackles of the heart.
Imesaį¹ kho, bhikkhave, paƱcannaį¹ cetasovinibandhÄnaį¹ pahÄnÄya ime cattÄro iddhipÄdÄ bhÄvetabbÄ. To give up these five shackles of the heart you should develop the four bases of psychic power.
