āTikicchakÄ, bhikkhave, virecanaį¹ denti pittasamuį¹į¹hÄnÄnampi ÄbÄdhÄnaį¹ paį¹ighÄtÄya, semhasamuį¹į¹hÄnÄnampi ÄbÄdhÄnaį¹ paį¹ighÄtÄya, vÄtasamuį¹į¹hÄnÄnampi ÄbÄdhÄnaį¹ paį¹ighÄtÄya. āMendicants, doctors prescribe a purgative for eliminating illnesses stemming from disorders of bile, phlegm, and wind.
Atthetaį¹, bhikkhave, virecanaį¹; ānetaį¹ natthÄ«āti vadÄmi. There is such a purgative, I donāt deny it.
TaƱca kho etaį¹, bhikkhave, virecanaį¹ sampajjatipi vipajjatipi. But this kind of purgative sometimes works and sometimes fails.
AhaƱca kho, bhikkhave, ariyaį¹ virecanaį¹ desessÄmi, yaį¹ virecanaį¹ sampajjatiyeva no vipajjati, yaį¹ virecanaį¹ Ägamma jÄtidhammÄ sattÄ jÄtiyÄ parimuccanti, jarÄdhammÄ sattÄ jarÄya parimuccanti, maraį¹adhammÄ sattÄ maraį¹ena parimuccanti, sokaparidevadukkhadomanassupÄyÄsadhammÄ sattÄ sokaparidevadukkhadomanassupÄyÄsehi parimuccanti. I will teach a noble purgative that works without fail. Relying on that purgative, sentient beings who are liable to rebirth, old age, and death, to sorrow, lamentation, pain, sadness, and distress are freed from all these things.
Taį¹ suį¹Ätha, sÄdhukaį¹ manasi karotha, bhÄsissÄmÄ«āti. Listen and apply your mind well, I will speak.ā
