Vamanasutta Emetic
āTikicchakÄ, bhikkhave, vamanaį¹ denti pittasamuį¹į¹hÄnÄnampi ÄbÄdhÄnaį¹ paį¹ighÄtÄya, semhasamuį¹į¹hÄnÄnampi ÄbÄdhÄnaį¹ paį¹ighÄtÄya, vÄtasamuį¹į¹hÄnÄnampi ÄbÄdhÄnaį¹ paį¹ighÄtÄya. āMendicants, doctors prescribe an emetic for eliminating illnesses stemming from disorders of bile, phlegm, and wind.
Atthetaį¹, bhikkhave, vamanaį¹; ānetaį¹ natthÄ«āti vadÄmi. There is such an emetic, I donāt deny it.
TaƱca kho etaį¹, bhikkhave, vamanaį¹ sampajjatipi vipajjatipi. But this kind of emetic sometimes works and sometimes fails.
AhaƱca kho, bhikkhave, ariyaį¹ vamanaį¹ desessÄmi, yaį¹ vamanaį¹ sampajjatiyeva no vipajjati, yaį¹ vamanaį¹ Ägamma jÄtidhammÄ sattÄ jÄtiyÄ parimuccanti, jarÄdhammÄ sattÄ jarÄya parimuccanti, maraį¹adhammÄ sattÄ maraį¹ena parimuccanti, sokaparidevadukkhadomanassupÄyÄsadhammÄ sattÄ sokaparidevadukkhadomanassupÄyÄsehi parimuccanti. I will teach a noble emetic that works without fail. Relying on that emetic, sentient beings who are liable to rebirth, old age, and death, to sorrow, lamentation, pain, sadness, and distress are freed from all these things.

And what is that noble emetic that works without fail?
SammÄdiį¹į¹hikassa, bhikkhave, micchÄdiį¹į¹hi vantÄ hoti; For one of right view, wrong view is vomited up.
ye ca micchÄdiį¹į¹hipaccayÄ aneke pÄpakÄ akusalÄ dhammÄ sambhavanti te cassa vantÄ honti; And the many bad, unskillful qualities produced by wrong view are vomited up.
sammÄdiį¹į¹hipaccayÄ ca aneke kusalÄ dhammÄ bhÄvanÄpÄripÅ«riį¹ gacchanti. And because of right view, many skillful qualities are fully developed.
