Parikkamanasutta The Bypass

ā€œSaparikkamano ayaį¹, bhikkhave, dhammo, nāyaį¹ dhammo aparikkamano. ā€œMendicants, this teaching provides a bypass, it doesnā€™t lack a bypass.

KathaƱca, bhikkhave, saparikkamano ayaį¹ dhammo, nāyaį¹ dhammo aparikkamano? And how does this teaching provide a bypass, not lacking a bypass?

Pāį¹‡Ätipātissa, bhikkhave, pāį¹‡Ätipātā veramaį¹‡Ä« parikkamanaį¹ hoti. Not killing living creatures bypasses killing living creatures.

Adinnādāyissa, bhikkhave, adinnādānā veramaį¹‡Ä« parikkamanaį¹ hoti. Not stealing bypasses stealing.

Kāmesumicchācārissa, bhikkhave, kāmesumicchācārā veramaį¹‡Ä« parikkamanaį¹ hoti. Avoiding sexual misconduct bypasses sexual misconduct.

Musāvādissa, bhikkhave, musāvādā veramaį¹‡Ä« parikkamanaį¹ hoti. Not lying bypasses lying.

Pisuį¹‡avācassa, bhikkhave, pisuį¹‡Äya vācāya veramaį¹‡Ä« parikkamanaį¹ hoti. Avoiding divisive speech bypasses divisive speech.

Pharusavācassa, bhikkhave, pharusāya vācāya veramaį¹‡Ä« parikkamanaį¹ hoti. Avoiding harsh speech bypasses harsh speech.

Samphappalāpissa, bhikkhave, samphappalāpā veramaį¹‡Ä« parikkamanaį¹ hoti. Avoiding talking nonsense bypasses talking nonsense.

Abhijjhālussa, bhikkhave, anabhijjhā parikkamanaį¹ hoti. Contentment bypasses covetousness.

Byāpannacittassa, bhikkhave, abyāpādo parikkamanaį¹ hoti. Good will bypasses ill will.

Micchādiį¹­į¹­hissa, bhikkhave, sammādiį¹­į¹­hi parikkamanaį¹ hoti. Right view bypasses wrong view.

Evaį¹ kho, bhikkhave, saparikkamano ayaį¹ dhammo, nāyaį¹ dhammo aparikkamanoā€ti. Thatā€™s how this teaching provides a bypass, it doesnā€™t lack a bypass.ā€
