Api cāhaį¹ sÄ«larakkhāya, Nevertheless, for the sake of guarding my ethics,

nibbāpetvāna mānasaį¹; I quelled my mind.

Saha janenokkamitvā, I left the road with my folk,

pathaį¹ pāpassa dāsahaį¹. giving it to the wicked one.

Saha pathato okkante, As soon as I left the path,

katvā cittassa nibbutiį¹; and I had quelled my mind,

Vivaraį¹ adāsi pathavÄ«, the earth opened up

pāpayakkhassa tāvadeā€ti. for that wicked spirit.ā€
