VuttaƱhetaį¹ bhagavatÄ vuttamarahatÄti me sutaį¹: This was said by the Buddha, the Perfected One: that is what I heard.
āTÄ«į¹imÄni, bhikkhave, indriyÄni. āMendicants, there are these three faculties.
KatamÄni tÄ«į¹i? What three?
AnaƱƱÄtaƱƱassÄmÄ«tindriyaį¹, aƱƱindriyaį¹, aƱƱÄtÄvindriyaį¹āThe faculty of understanding that oneās enlightenment is imminent. The faculty of enlightenment. The faculty of one who is enlightened.
imÄni kho, bhikkhave, tÄ«į¹i indriyÄnÄ«āti. These are the three faculties.ā
Etamatthaį¹ bhagavÄ avoca. The Buddha spoke this matter.
Tatthetaį¹ iti vuccati: On this it is said:
āSekhassa sikkhamÄnassa, āAs a trainee trains,
ujumaggÄnusÄrino; following the straight road,
Khayasmiį¹ paį¹hamaį¹ ƱÄį¹aį¹, first they know about ending;
tato aĆ±Ć±Ä anantarÄ. enlightenment follows in the same lifetime.
Tato aƱƱÄvimuttassa, Then the knowledge comes
ƱÄį¹aį¹ ve hoti tÄdino; to such a one, freed through enlightenment,
AkuppÄ me vimuttÄ«ti, with the end of the fetters of continued existence:
bhavasaį¹yojanakkhayÄ. āMy freedom is unshakable.ā
Sa ve indriyasampanno, Accomplished in the faculties,
santo santipade rato; peaceful, in love with the state of peace,
DhÄreti antimaį¹ dehaį¹, they bear their final body,
jetvÄ mÄraį¹ savÄhinināti. having vanquished MÄra and his mount.ā
Ayampi attho vutto bhagavatÄ, iti me sutanti. This too is a matter that was spoken by the Blessed One: that is what I heard.
