Duccaritasutta Bad Conduct
VuttaƱhetaį¹ bhagavatÄ vuttamarahatÄti me sutaį¹: This was said by the Buddha, the Perfected One: that is what I heard.
āTÄ«į¹imÄni, bhikkhave, duccaritÄni. āMendicants, there are these three kinds of bad conduct.
KatamÄni tÄ«į¹i? What three?
KÄyaduccaritaį¹, vacÄ«duccaritaį¹, manoduccaritaį¹āBad conduct by way of body, speech, and mind.
imÄni kho, bhikkhave, tÄ«į¹i duccaritÄnÄ«āti. These are the three kinds of bad conduct.ā
Etamatthaį¹ bhagavÄ avoca. The Buddha spoke this matter.
Tatthetaį¹ iti vuccati: On this it is said:
āKÄyaduccaritaį¹ katvÄ, āHaving done bad things
vacÄ«duccaritÄni ca; by way of body,
Manoduccaritaį¹ katvÄ, speech, and mind,
yaƱcaƱƱaį¹ dosasaį¹hitaį¹. and whatever else is corrupt;
AkatvÄ kusalaį¹ kammaį¹, not having done good deeds,
katvÄnÄkusalaį¹ bahuį¹; and having done many bad,
KÄyassa bhedÄ duppaƱƱo, when their body breaks up, that witless person
nirayaį¹ sopapajjatÄ«āti. is reborn in hell.ā
Ayampi attho vutto bhagavatÄ, iti me sutanti. This too is a matter that was spoken by the Blessed One: that is what I heard.
