VuttaƱhetaį¹ bhagavatÄ vuttamarahatÄti me sutaį¹: This was said by the Buddha, the Perfected One: that is what I heard.
āTÄ«į¹imÄni, bhikkhave, soceyyÄni. āMendicants, there are these three kinds of purity.
KatamÄni tÄ«į¹i? What three?
KÄyasoceyyaį¹, vacÄ«soceyyaį¹, manosoceyyaį¹āPurity of body, speech, and mind.
imÄni kho, bhikkhave, tÄ«į¹i soceyyÄnÄ«āti. These are the three kinds of purity.ā
Etamatthaį¹ bhagavÄ avoca. The Buddha spoke this matter.
Tatthetaį¹ iti vuccati: On this it is said:
āKÄyasuciį¹ vacÄ«suciį¹, āPurity of body, purity of speech,
cetosucimanÄsavaį¹; and undefiled purity of heart.
Suciį¹ soceyyasampannaį¹, A pure person, blessed with purity,
Ähu sabbappahÄyinanāti. has given up everything, they say.ā
Ayampi attho vutto bhagavatÄ, iti me sutanti. This too is a matter that was spoken by the Blessed One: that is what I heard.
