Moneyyasutta Sagacity

VuttaƱhetaį¹ bhagavatā vuttamarahatāti me sutaį¹: This was said by the Buddha, the Perfected One: that is what I heard.

ā€œTÄ«į¹‡imāni, bhikkhave, moneyyāni. ā€œMendicants, there are these three kinds of sagacity.

Katamāni tÄ«į¹‡i? What three?

Kāyamoneyyaį¹, vacÄ«moneyyaį¹, manomoneyyaį¹ā€”Sagacity of body, speech, and mind.

imāni kho, bhikkhave, tÄ«į¹‡i moneyyānÄ«ā€ti. These are the three kinds of sagacity.ā€

Etamatthaį¹ bhagavā avoca. The Buddha spoke this matter.

Tatthetaį¹ iti vuccati: On this it is said:

ā€œKāyamuniį¹ vacÄ«muniį¹, ā€œA sage in body, a sage in speech,

manomunimanāsavaį¹; a sage undefiled in mind;

Muniį¹ moneyyasampannaį¹, a sage, blessed with sagacity,

āhu ninhātapāpakanā€ti. has washed off all bad things, they say.ā€

Ayampi attho vutto bhagavatā, iti me sutanti. This too is a matter that was spoken by the Blessed One: that is what I heard.
