VuttaƱhetaį¹ bhagavatÄ vuttamarahatÄti me sutaį¹: This was said by the Buddha, the Perfected One: that is what I heard.
āYassa kassaci, bhikkhave, bhikkhussa vÄ bhikkhuniyÄ vÄ rÄgo appahÄ«no, doso appahÄ«no, moho appahÄ«noāāWhoever has not given up greed, hate, and delusion
ayaį¹ vuccati, bhikkhave, āatiį¹į¹o samuddaį¹ saÅ«miį¹ savÄ«ciį¹ sÄvaį¹į¹aį¹ sagahaį¹ sarakkhasaį¹ā. is said to have not crossed over the ocean with its waves and whirlpools, its saltwater crocodiles and monsters.

gato thale tiį¹į¹hati brÄhmaį¹oāāti. is said to have crossed over the ocean with its waves and whirlpools, its saltwater crocodiles and monsters. Crossed over and gone beyond, that brahmin stands on the shore.ā

āYassa rÄgo ca doso ca, āThose in whom greed, hate, and ignorance
AvijjÄ ca virÄjitÄ; have faded away,
Somaį¹ samuddaį¹ sagahaį¹ sarakkhasaį¹, have crossed the ocean so hard to cross,
SaÅ«mibhayaį¹ duttaraį¹ accatÄri. with its saltwater crocodiles and monsters, its waves and dangers.

gÄtigo maccujaho nirÅ«padhi, Theyāve slipped their snares, given up death, and have no attachments.
PahÄsi dukkhaį¹ apunabbhavÄya; Theyāve given up suffering, so there are no more future lives.
Atthaį¹
gato so na pamÄį¹ameti, Theyāve come to an end and cannot be defined;
Amohayi maccurÄjanti brÅ«mÄ«āti. theyāve confounded the King of Death, I say.ā
Ayampi attho vutto bhagavatÄ, iti me sutanti. This too is a matter that was spoken by the Blessed One: that is what I heard.
