Bhidurasutta Fragile

VuttaƱhetaį¹ bhagavatā vuttamarahatāti me sutaį¹: This was said by the Buddha, the Perfected One: that is what I heard.

ā€œBhidurāyaį¹, bhikkhave, kāyo, viƱƱāį¹‡aį¹ virāgadhammaį¹, sabbe upadhÄ« aniccā dukkhā vipariį¹‡Ämadhammāā€ti. ā€œThis body is fragile, mendicants, consciousness is liable to fade away, and all attachments are impermanent, suffering, and perishable.ā€

Etamatthaį¹ bhagavā avoca. The Buddha spoke this matter.

Tatthetaį¹ iti vuccati: On this it is said:

ā€œKāyaƱca bhiduraį¹ Ʊatvā, ā€œKnowing that the body is fragile,

ViƱƱāį¹‡aƱca virāgunaį¹; that consciousness is faded,

UpadhÄ«su bhayaį¹ disvā, and seeing the danger in attachments,

Jātimaraį¹‡amaccagā; they go beyond birth and death.

Sampatvā paramaį¹ santiį¹, Having attained ultimate peace,

Kālaį¹ kaį¹…khati bhāvitattoā€ti. evolved, they await their time.ā€

Ayampi attho vutto bhagavatā, iti me sutanti. This too is a matter that was spoken by the Blessed One: that is what I heard.
