āDhÄtuso, bhikkhave, sattÄ sattehi saddhiį¹ saį¹sandanti samenti. āMendicants, sentient beings come together and converge because of an element:
HÄ«nÄdhimuttikÄ sattÄ hÄ«nÄdhimuttikehi sattehi saddhiį¹ saį¹sandanti samenti, Those who have bad convictions come together and converge with those who have bad convictions.
kalyÄį¹ÄdhimuttikÄ sattÄ kalyÄį¹Ädhimuttikehi sattehi saddhiį¹ saį¹sandanti samenti. Those who have good convictions come together and converge with those who have good convictions.

Parittaį¹ dÄrumÄruyha, If youāre lost in the middle of a great sea,
yathÄ sÄ«de mahaį¹į¹ave. and you clamber up on a little log, youāll sink.
Evaį¹ kusÄ«tamÄgamma, So too, a person who lives well
sÄdhujÄ«vÄ«pi sÄ«dati; sinks by relying on a lazy person.
TasmÄ taį¹ parivajjeyya, Hence you should avoid such
kusÄ«taį¹ hÄ«navÄ«riyaį¹. a lazy person who lacks energy.
Pavivittehi ariyehi, Dwell with the noble ones
