āCattÄrimÄni, bhikkhave, appÄni ceva sulabhÄni ca, tÄni ca anavajjÄni. āMendicants, these four trifles are easy to find and are blameless.

Yato kho, bhikkhave, bhikkhu appena ca tuį¹į¹ho hoti sulabhena ca anavajjena ca, idamassÄhaį¹ aƱƱataraį¹ sÄmaƱƱaį¹
ganti vadÄmÄ«āti. When a mendicant is content with trifles that are easy to find, they have one of the factors of the ascetic life, I say.ā

āAnavajjena tuį¹į¹hassa, āWhen one is content with whatās blameless,
appena sulabhena ca; trifling, and easy to find,
Na senÄsanamÄrabbha, they donāt get distressed
cÄ«varaį¹ pÄnabhojanaį¹; about lodgings, robes,
VighÄto hoti cittassa, food, and drink,
disÄ nappaį¹ihaƱƱati. and theyāre not obstructed anywhere.
Ye cassa dhammÄ akkhÄtÄ, These qualities are said to be
sÄmaƱƱassÄnulomikÄ; integral to the ascetic life.
AdhiggahitÄ tuį¹į¹hassa, Theyāre mastered by a mendicant,
appamattassa bhikkhunoāti. content and diligent.ā
Ayampi attho vutto bhagavatÄ, iti me sutanti. This too is a matter that was spoken by the Blessed One: that is what I heard.
