Paramaį¹į¹hakasutta Eight on the Ultimate
Paramanti diį¹į¹hÄ«su paribbasÄno, If, maintaining that theirs is the āultimateā view,
Yaduttari kurute jantu loke; a person makes it out to be highest in the world;
HÄ«nÄti aƱƱe tato sabbamÄha, then they declare all others are ālesserā;
TasmÄ vivÄdÄni avÄ«tivatto. thatās why theyāre not over disputes.
YadattanÄ« passati Änisaį¹saį¹, If they see an advantage for themselves
Diį¹į¹he sute sÄ«lavate mute vÄ; in whatās seen, heard, or thought; or in precepts or vows,
Tadeva so tattha samuggahÄya, in that case, having adopted that one alone,
NihÄ«nato passati sabbamaƱƱaį¹. they see all others as inferior.
Taį¹ vÄpi ganthaį¹ kusalÄ vadanti, Those who are skilled say that, too, is a knot,
Yaį¹ nissito passati hÄ«namaƱƱaį¹; relying on which people see others as lesser.
TasmÄ hi diį¹į¹haį¹ va sutaį¹ mutaį¹ vÄ, Thatās why a mendicant ought not rely
SÄ«labbataį¹ bhikkhu na nissayeyya. on whatās seen, heard, or thought, or on precepts and vows.
Diį¹į¹himpi lokasmiį¹ na kappayeyya, Nor would they form a view about the world
ĆÄį¹ena vÄ sÄ«lavatena vÄpi; through a notion or through precepts and vows.
Samoti attÄnamanÅ«paneyya, They would never represent themselves as āequalā,
HÄ«no na maƱƱetha visesi vÄpi. nor conceive themselves āworseā or ābetterā.
Attaį¹ pahÄya anupÄdiyÄno, What was picked up has been set down and is not grasped again;
ĆÄį¹epi so nissayaį¹ no karoti; they form no dependency even on notions.
Sa ve viyattesu na vaggasÄrÄ«, They follow no side among the factions,
Diį¹į¹himpi so na pacceti kiƱci. and believe in no view at all.
YassÅ«bhayante paį¹idhÄ«dha natthi, One here who has no wish for either endā
BhavÄbhavÄya idha vÄ huraį¹ vÄ; for any state of existence in this life or the nextā
NivesanÄ tassa na santi keci, has adopted no dogma at all
Dhammesu niccheyya samuggahÄ«taį¹. after judging among the teachings.
TassÄ«dha diį¹į¹he va sute mute vÄ, For them not even the tiniest idea is formulated here
PakappitÄ natthi aį¹Å«pi saƱƱÄ; regarding what is seen, heard, or thought.
Taį¹ brÄhmaį¹aį¹ diį¹į¹himanÄdiyÄnaį¹, That brahmin does not grasp any viewā
KenÄ«dha lokasmiį¹ vikappayeyya. how could anyone in this world judge them?
Na kappayanti na purekkharonti, They donāt make things up or promote them,
DhammÄpi tesaį¹ na paį¹icchitÄse; and donāt subscribe to any of the doctrines.
Na brÄhmaį¹o sÄ«lavatena neyyo, The brahmin has no need to be led by precept or vow;

gato na pacceti tÄdÄ«ti. gone to the far shore, one such does not return.
