PosÄlamÄį¹avapucchÄ The Question of PosÄla
āYo atÄ«taį¹ Ädisati, āTo the one who reveals the past,ā
(iccÄyasmÄ posÄlo) said Venerable PosÄla,
Anejo chinnasaį¹sayo; āwho is imperturbable, with doubts cut off,
PÄraguį¹ sabbadhammÄnaį¹, and who has gone beyond all things,
Atthi paƱhena Ägamaį¹. I have come seeking with a question.
VibhÅ«tarÅ«pasaƱƱissa, Consider one who perceives the disappearance of form,
sabbakÄyappahÄyino; who has entirely given up the body,
AjjhattaƱca bahiddhÄ ca, and who sees nothing at all
natthi kiƱcīti passato; internally and externally.
ĆÄį¹aį¹ sakkÄnupucchÄmi, I ask the Sakyan about knowledge for them;
kathaį¹ neyyo tathÄvidhoā. how should one like that be guided?ā
āViƱƱÄį¹aį¹į¹hitiyo sabbÄ, āThe Realized One directly knows,ā
(posÄlÄti bhagavÄ) said the Buddha,
AbhijÄnaį¹ tathÄgato; āall the planes of consciousness.
Tiį¹į¹hantamenaį¹ jÄnÄti, And he knows this one who remains,
Vimuttaį¹ tapparÄyaį¹aį¹. committed to that as their final goal.
ÄkiƱcaƱƱasambhavaį¹ ƱatvÄ, Understanding that desire for rebirth
NandÄ« saį¹yojanaį¹ iti; in the dimension of nothingness is a fetter,
Evametaį¹ abhiƱƱÄya, and directly knowing what this really means,
Tato tattha vipassati; one then discerns that matter clearly.
Etaį¹ ƱÄį¹aį¹ tathaį¹ tassa, That is their knowledge of truth,
BrÄhmaį¹assa vusÄ«matoāti. the brahmin who has lived the life.ā
PosÄlamÄį¹avapucchÄ cuddasamÄ.
