MogharÄjamÄį¹avapucchÄ The Questions of MogharÄja
āDvÄhaį¹ sakkaį¹ apucchissaį¹, āTwice I have asked the Sakyan,ā
(iccÄyasmÄ mogharÄjÄ) said Venerable MogharÄja,
Na me byÄkÄsi cakkhumÄ; ābut you havenāt answered me, O Clear-eyed One.
YÄvatatiyaƱca devÄ«si, I have heard that the divine seer
ByÄkarotÄ«ti me sutaį¹. answers when questioned a third time.
Ayaį¹ loko paro loko, Regarding this world, the other world,
brahmaloko sadevako; and the realm of divinity with its gods,
Diį¹į¹hiį¹ te nÄbhijÄnÄti, Iām not familiar with the view
gotamassa yasassino. of the renowned Gotama.
Evaį¹ abhikkantadassÄviį¹, So I have come seeking with a question
atthi paƱhena Ägamaį¹; for the one of excellent vision.
Kathaį¹ lokaį¹ avekkhantaį¹, How to look upon the world
maccurÄjÄ na passatiā. so the King of Death wonāt see you?ā
āSuƱƱato lokaį¹ avekkhassu, āLook upon the world as empty,
MogharÄja sadÄ sato; MogharÄja, ever mindful.
AttÄnudiį¹į¹hiį¹ Å«hacca, Having uprooted the view of self,
Evaį¹ maccutaro siyÄ; you may thus cross over death.
Evaį¹ lokaį¹ avekkhantaį¹, Thatās how to look upon the world
MaccurÄjÄ na passatÄ«āti. so the King of Death wonāt see you.ā
