Somamittattheragāthā Somamitta

ā€œParittaį¹ dārumāruyha, If youā€™re lost in the middle of a great sea,

yathā sÄ«de mahaį¹‡į¹‡ave; and you clamber up on a little log, youā€™ll sink.

Evaį¹ kusÄ«tamāgamma, So too, a person who lives well

sādhujīvīpi sīdati; sinks by relying on a lazy person.

Tasmā taį¹ parivajjeyya, Hence you should avoid such

kusÄ«taį¹ hÄ«navÄ«riyaį¹. a lazy person who lacks energy.

Pavivittehi ariyehi, Dwell with the noble ones

pahitattehi jhāyibhi; who are secluded and determined

Niccaį¹ āraddhavÄ«riyehi, and always energetic;

paį¹‡įøitehi sahāvaseā€ti. the astute who practice absorption.
