“Ayoniso manasikārā, Because of focusing on the wrong things,
maṇḍanaṁ anuyuñjisaṁ; I was addicted to ornamentation.
Uddhato capalo cāsiṁ, I was vain, fickle,
kāmarāgena aṭṭito. racked by desire for pleasures of the senses.
Upāyakusalenāhaṁ, But with the help of the Buddha,
buddhenādiccabandhunā; the kinsman of the Sun, so skilled in means,
Yoniso paṭipajjitvā, I practiced rationally and extracted
bhave cittaṁ udabbahin”ti. attachment to continued existence from my mind.
