āDisvÄ pÄsÄdachÄyÄyaį¹, I saw the supreme person
caį¹
kamantaį¹ naruttamaį¹; walking mindfully in the shade of the terrace,
Tattha naį¹ upasaį¹
kamma, so I approached,
vandissaį¹ purisuttamaį¹. and bowed to the supreme among men.
Ekaį¹saį¹ cÄ«varaį¹ katvÄ, Arranging my robe over one shoulder
saį¹haritvÄna pÄį¹ayo; and clasping my hands together,
Anucaį¹
kamissaį¹ virajaį¹, I walked alongside that stainless one,
sabbasattÄnamuttamaį¹. supreme among all beings.
Tato paƱhe apucchi maį¹, The wise one, expert in questions,
paƱhÄnaį¹ kovido vidÅ«; questioned me.
Acchambhī ca abhīto ca, Brave and fearless,
byÄkÄsiį¹ satthuno ahaį¹. I answered the teacher.
Vissajjitesu paƱhesu, When all his questions were answered,
anumodi tathÄgato; the Realized One congratulated me.
Bhikkhusaį¹
ghaį¹ viloketvÄ, Looking around the mendicant Saį¹
gha,
imamatthaį¹ abhÄsatha. he said the following:
āLÄbhÄ aį¹
gÄnaį¹ magadhÄnaį¹, āIt is a blessing for the people of Aį¹
ga and Magadha
YesÄyaį¹ paribhuƱjati; that this person enjoys their
CÄ«varaį¹ piį¹įøapÄtaƱca, robe and almsfood,
Paccayaį¹ sayanÄsanaį¹; requisites and lodgings,
Paccuį¹į¹hÄnaƱca sÄmÄ«ciį¹, their respect and serviceā
Tesaį¹ lÄbhÄti cÄbravi. itās a blessing for them,ā he declared.
Ajjatagge maį¹ sopÄka, āSopÄka, from this day on
dassanÄyopasaį¹
kama; you are invited to come and see me.
EsÄ ceva te sopÄka, And SopÄka, let this
bhavatu upasampadÄā. be your ordination.ā
JÄtiyÄ sattavassohaį¹, At seven years old
laddhÄna upasampadaį¹; I received ordination.
DhÄremi antimaį¹ dehaį¹, I bear my final bodyā
aho dhammasudhammatÄāti. oh, the excellence of the teaching!
