AbhayÄtherÄ«gÄthÄ Verses of the Elder Abhayaās Mother AbhayÄ
āAbhaye bhiduro kÄyo, āAbhayÄ, this body is transient: AbhayÄ, the body is fragile,
yattha satÄ puthujjanÄ; this is what worldly beings should attend to. yet ordinary people are attached to it.
NikkhipissÄmimaį¹ dehaį¹, I will cast aside this body Iāll lay down the body,
sampajÄnÄ satÄ«matÄ«. with mindfulness and clear comprehension. aware and mindful.
Bahūhi dukkhadhammehi, Amidst so much suffering, Though subject to so many painful things,
appamÄdaratÄya me; I devoted myself to heedfulness. I have, through my love of diligence,
Taį¹hakkhayo anuppatto, I have obtained the destruction of craving, reached the ending of craving,
kataį¹ buddhassa sÄsananāti. and completed the teaching of the Buddha.ā and fulfilled the Buddhaās instructions.
