āMusalÄni gahetvÄna, āWith a pestle, āTaking a pestle,
dhaƱƱaį¹ koį¹į¹enti mÄį¹avÄ; young men pound grain. young men pound grain.
PuttadÄrÄni posentÄ, As they nourish wife and children, Providing for partners and children,
dhanaį¹ vindanti mÄį¹avÄ. young men prosper. young men acquire wealth.
Karotha buddhasÄsanaį¹, Do what the Buddha taught, Do the Buddhaās bidding,
yaį¹ katvÄ nÄnutappati; and you will have no regrets. you wonāt regret it.
Khippaį¹ pÄdÄni dhovitvÄ, Quickly wash your feet, Having quickly washed your feet,
ekamante nisīdatha; and sit down on one side. sit in a discreet place to meditate.
CetosamathamanuyuttÄ, Commit to tranquility of mindāDevoted to serenity of heart,
karotha buddhasÄsanaį¹ā. do what the Buddha taught.ā do the Buddhaās bidding.ā
TassÄ tÄ vacanaį¹ sutvÄ, Upon hearing these words, After hearing her words,
paį¹ÄcÄrÄya sÄsanaį¹; the teaching of Paį¹ÄcÄrÄ, the instructions of Paį¹ÄcÄrÄ,
PÄde pakkhÄlayitvÄna, they washed their feet they washed their feet
ekamantaį¹ upÄvisuį¹; and sat down to one side. and retired to a discreet place.
CetosamathamanuyuttÄ, Committing to tranquility of mind, Devoted to serenity of heart,
akaį¹su buddhasÄsanaį¹. they followed the teachings of the Buddha. they did the Buddhaās bidding.
RattiyÄ purime yÄme, In the first watch of the night, In the first watch of the night,
pubbajÄtimanussaruį¹; they remembered their previous lives. they recollected their past lives.
RattiyÄ majjhime yÄme, In the second watch of the night, In the middle watch of the night,
dibbacakkhuį¹ visodhayuį¹; they purified the divine eye. they purified their clairvoyance.
RattiyÄ pacchime yÄme, In the third watch of the night, In the last watch of the night,
tamokhandhaį¹ padÄlayuį¹. they destroyed this mass of darkness. they shattered the mass of darkness.
Uį¹į¹hÄya pÄde vandiį¹su, They stood up and paid homage at her feet: They rose and paid homage at her feet:
ākatÄ te anusÄsanÄ«; āWe did as you instructed. āWe have done your bidding;
Indaį¹va devÄ tidasÄ, We now possess the three knowledges and are free from influences, we shall abide honoring you,

gÄme aparÄjitaį¹; and will dwell revering you as the thirty gods honor Indra,
PurakkhatvÄ vihassÄma, just as the thirty Devas honor Indra, undefeated in battle.
tevijjÄmha anÄsavÄāti. unconquered in battle.ā Masters of the three knowledges, we are free of defilements.ā
Itthaį¹ sudaį¹ tiį¹samattÄ therÄ« bhikkhuniyo paį¹ÄcÄrÄya santike aƱƱaį¹ byÄkariį¹sÅ«ti. In this way Thirty Elder BhikkhunÄ«s attained perfect knowledge in the presence of Paį¹ÄcÄrÄ. That is how thirty senior nuns declared their enlightenment in the presence of Paį¹ÄcÄrÄ.
