dhaƱƱaį¹ koį¹į¹enti mÄį¹avÄ; young men pound grain. young men pound grain.
PuttadÄrÄni posentÄ, As they nourish wife and children, Providing for partners and children,
dhanaį¹ vindanti mÄį¹avÄ. young men prosper. young men acquire wealth.
Ghaį¹etha buddhasÄsane, Work your way through the teaching of the Buddha, Work at the Buddhaās bidding,
yaį¹ katvÄ nÄnutappati; and you will have no regrets. you wonāt regret it.
Khippaį¹ pÄdÄni dhovitvÄ, Quickly wash your feet, Having quickly washed your feet,
ekamantaį¹ nisÄ«datha. and sit down to one side. sit in a discreet place to meditate.
Cittaį¹ upaį¹į¹hapetvÄna, Once the mind Establish the mind,
ekaggaį¹ susamÄhitaį¹; is well-collected and one-pointed, unified and serene.

āTassÄhaį¹ vacanaį¹ sutvÄ, āUpon hearing these words, āAfter hearing her words,
paį¹ÄcÄrÄnusÄsaniį¹; the instructions of Paį¹ÄcÄrÄ, the instructions of Paį¹ÄcÄrÄ,
PÄde pakkhÄlayitvÄna, I washed my feet, I washed my feet
ekamante upÄvisiį¹. and sat down to one side. and retired to a discreet place.
RattiyÄ purime yÄme, In the first watch of the night, In the first watch of the night,
pubbajÄtimanussariį¹; I remembered my previous lives. I recollected my past lives.
RattiyÄ majjhime yÄme, In the second watch of the night, In the middle watch of the night,
dibbacakkhuį¹ visodhayiį¹. I purified the divine eye. I purified my clairvoyance.
RattiyÄ pacchime yÄme, In the third watch of the night, In the last watch of the night,
tamokhandhaį¹ padÄlayiį¹; I destroyed this mass of darkness. I shattered the mass of darkness.
TevijjÄ atha vuį¹į¹hÄsiį¹, I emerged from that possessing the three knowledges: I rose up master of the three knowledges:
katÄ te anusÄsanÄ«. I did as you instructed. your bidding has been done.
Sakkaį¹va devÄ tidasÄ, I now possess the three knowledges and am free from influences, I shall abide honoring you
saį¹
gÄme aparÄjitaį¹; and will dwell revering you as the thirty gods honor Sakka,
PurakkhatvÄ vihassÄmi, just as the thirty Devas honor Indra, undefeated in battle.
tevijjÄmhi anÄsavÄā. unconquered in battle.ā Master of the three knowledges, I am free of defilements.ā
