Susammuṭṭhasutta Thoroughly Confused Very Confused Utterly Muddled

Sāvatthinidānaṁ. At Sāvatthī. At Savatthi.

Ekamantaṁ ṭhitā kho sā devatā bhagavato santike imaṁ gāthaṁ abhāsi: Standing to one side, a devatā addressed the Blessed One with a verse: Standing to one side, that deity spoke this verse in the Buddha’s presence: Standing to one side, that devatā recited this verse in the presence of the Blessed One:

“Yesaṁ dhammā susammuṭṭhā, “Those for whom phenomena are thoroughly confused, “Those who are very confused about the teachings “Those who are utterly muddled about things,

paravādesu nīyare; who may be led by the teachings of others: may be led astray by the doctrines of others. Who may be led into others’ doctrines,

Suttā te nappabujjhanti, Asleep are they; they haven’t awakened. Asleep, they have not woken up: Fast asleep, they have not yet awakened:

kālo tesaṁ pabujjhitun”ti. It’s time for them to awaken.” it is time for them to wake!” It is time for them to awaken.”
