Mahaddhanasutta Affluent Those of Great Wealth
āMahaddhanÄ mahÄbhogÄ, āThe affluent and the wealthy, āThose of great wealth and property,
raį¹į¹havantopi khattiyÄ; even the aristocrats who rule the land, Even khattiyas who rule the country,
AƱƱamaƱƱÄbhigijjhanti, are jealous of each other, Look at each other with greedy eyes,

katÄ. insatiable in sensual pleasures. Insatiable in sensual pleasures.
Tesu ussukkajÄtesu, Among those of such an avid nature, Among these who have become so avid,
bhavasotÄnusÄrisu; flowing along the stream of lives, Flowing along in the stream of existence,
Kedha taį¹haį¹ pajahiį¹su, who here has given up craving? Who here have abandoned craving?
ke lokasmiį¹ anussukÄāti. Who in the world is not avid?ā Who in the world are no longer avid?ā
āHitvÄ agÄraį¹ pabbajitÄ, āHaving given up their home, their child, their cattle, āHaving left their homes and gone forth,
hitvÄ puttaį¹ pasuį¹ piyaį¹; and all that they love, they went forth. Having left their dear sons and cattle,
HitvÄ rÄgaƱca dosaƱca, Having given up desire and hate, Having left behind lust and hatred,
