Evaį¹ me sutaį¹āSo I have heard. Thus have I heard.
ekaį¹ samayaį¹ bhagavÄ vesÄliyaį¹ viharati mahÄvane kÅ«į¹ÄgÄrasÄlÄyaį¹. At one time the Buddha was staying near VesÄlÄ«, at the Great Wood, in the hall with the peaked roof. On one occasion the Blessed One was dwelling at Vesali in the Great Wood in the Hall with the Peaked Roof.

Ye keci ariyaį¹ dhammaį¹, There are simpletons who go about Those who, the noble Dhamma,
VigarahantÄ caranti dummedhÄ; denouncing the teaching of the noble ones. āThose ignorant people who go about critizing
Upenti roruvaį¹ ghoraį¹, They fall into the terrible Hell of Screams Pass on to the terrible Roruva hell
Cirarattaį¹ dukkhaį¹ anubhavanti. where they suffer long. And experience suffering for a long time.
Ye ca kho ariye dhamme, There are those who have found acceptance and peace In regard to the noble Dhamma,
KhantiyÄ upasamena upetÄ; in the teaching of the noble ones. āBut those who have peace and acquiescence
PahÄya mÄnusaį¹ dehaį¹, After giving up this human body, On discarding the human body,
DevakÄyaį¹ paripÅ«ressantÄ«āti. they swell the hosts of gods.ā Will fill the host of devas. ā
